Dear Edward,

I do believe it is about time I should write you again but really these last days I have been so busy painting and getting a start it is always difficult to get into out of door working,but great fun as you are always out doors and never a minute in the house.

Our stay in Bremen was very pleasant we had about 30 calls the very first day; were out seeing cousins and they us and one evening dined at Vetter Haus and Siel, where all others that could, appeared. The younger children cited some verses greeting us & we girls received a bouquet while K & M. a wreath it was a charming evening and we had a fine time. Vetter Haus made a spiech in honor of you
and so we drank your health. I hope you felt extra joy the following days. Our journey to Cologne was very pleasant, I left the sisters the next day came here at 10, o'clock reached the station where Miss Boyd met me sooner and am enjoying it. It is really charming the air fine cold the first days, but heavy now. We paint all day, but just think my trunk with all my painting stuff has not arrived and I am half crazy, why, I wont be able to do anything. We had to give up Kiel which was a shame but I expected almost as much. I hope Papa will feel better after his cure - but dear me he does gad about so that I am not at all surprised he is tired.
