people are fairminded. Of course you might be taxed for your personal property, but that could not be much even should you make it your residence, as your property with the exception of furniture, pieces of art, etc, would be in the city & nontaxible.

The $1000- you mentioned as due Sept. 1st is, I think, for the Grt. Northern, but I am not sure as I have not my books with me, they being in the country. We are too busy here to allow for any personal work during the day.

Kate arrived to-day, reaching her apartment early in the afternoon from where she telephoned us. We expect to dine together. I do not know whether she will come out to us over Sunday or not. I saw in the papers about a week ago that the Judge signed the final papers [[strikethrough]] at [[/strikethrough]] annulling her marriage. I am very glad this has finally all been settled.

I have started riding before breakfast & Theo. went with me this morning. It is lots of fun to have a morning gallop before breakf. To-day it was about 56[[degrees]] F., very cool you see.
