August 10th, 1914

My dear Sister, Dodo,

Saturday I received a cable from the Burma Trading Co., which is the concern with whom Alex is, reading :-

"Kate Paris"

As I had already cabled her twice at Bagnoles de l'Orne, and she is now in Paris, and I did not know her address, the only thing to do seemed to be to wait.

This morning Mr. Moody came in with the following cable which he had received:-

"Avisez mon frère prolonger lettre dredit "Brooklyn Trust télégraphiez Francheul "Paris"

This we both presumed meant to increase rather than extend the letter of credit, so we arranged for this and we cabled her as follows:-

"Katherine Dreter care Fracncheul Paris."Ai prolonge aussi arrange Brown Brothers envoyer "lour correspondents Paris nouvelle lottro credit deux cents "Iivres recommande partir Angleterre aussitôt possible".

Francheul is I presume the cable word for the Frances Choisuel Hotel, but, of course, I am not sure of it.
I will advise you as soon as I hear something further.
