Dear ______,

I am writing in regard to the sculpture in your collection of public artworks titled "Sudden Presence", by Beverly Pepper.

This sculpture is made from Cor-ten steel, an all-purpose metal widely used industrially, architecturally an in the fabrication of sculpture. Recent studies have provided new insights as to the integrity and endurance of this steel. In rare cases, particularly in some urban environments with a high degree of air pollution it has been found that Cor-ten steel has not completely retained its integrity.

As the owner of a major work in a public space, you may want to check from time to time on the condition of your Cor-ten steel sculpture. An inspection of the work to ascertain its current condition as to possible corrosion and the status of the metal and welds may be called for at this time. In the future, annual checkups of metal conditions should also be undertaken.
