1914 Mrs Whitney's design for Titanic Memorial was selected in an anonymous competition. Fee $43,000.00 Authority to erect memorial was given by Congress in 1917 but the construction was delayed because the committee was unable to obtain desired site. The figure and pedestal was put in storage. In 1930 the foundation was started and it was dedicated May 26, 1931.

1914 Mrs Whitney loaned studio at 8 West 8th St for sale of Art works. $10,000.00 raised for war relief work.

1914 Mrs Whitney organized and financed Field Hospital in France.

1915 January - Competition in painting, sculpture and architecture at 8 West 8th Street. Prize winning works exhibited for benefit for French artists' families affected by war.
