So many thanks for the books & reviews - Max Orpen is charming - & the memoirs of Ceon Hizleu promise to be very amusing - too good to leave behind.

I have just been spending a week with an American Division that has now moved off - & I have stood on in this interesting country just over the Belgian frontier, the most fought over district of the war, and the now ruined city. Tanks stand behind in the other ruined french city which has lately been more violently bombarded than ever - but he is all right - I have heard from him -
Philip Iamoon has been wonderfully kind and useful and watches over my charges of Vein Waus father - and smoothes the way before me - Jordan Hurter past grievance against him was very tiresome - we're letting it alone.
How splendidly things are going! Every day brings good news.
