It is a pitiable show! The good men of other days are old and feable and no-one seems to come in their places. This morning we went to the "Salon des Independants" to see if the talent had gone there. It was worse than the Independant show in New York. What has become of French art! I fear it has gone for good. The nation has been crushed and forced into a struggle for existence and Art is no longer possible.

Tell Frank Jones I had his letter about the Lehman check. I think this N.A.D. is very obstinate - but I'll get even with them yet. So help me!

"Excuse hurts and a bad pen", as the pig said when it ran away from the butcher! My writing is bad enough at its best but with this pen it is hopeless.

Best regards to the gang
