June 26,1908

Friday morning we took a coach ride to Land's End, the end of England. The road was very winding and through a bold, rocky country. In fact the land seemed to be all one rock covered with a little earth. Bleak looking farms, were scattered around, with here and there ugly little villages.  

Sennen at Land's End; where we stayed over night: is more of a village, but just as uninteresting as the rest. The hotel is not very good; but has a fine location on the cliffs. 
The cliffs at Land's End are wonderful weather beaten old things rugged and strong and of a light brown color, covered here and there with gray, green moss. Their huge platforms and pinnacles, together with their caves and crevices, are very awe inspiring.
