made it very stupid. So Monday I thought I would go to Newburgh and take in the dance by way of variety. Albert and I went up to it and had a pretty good time but it is a bore for me to dance with other girls and I soon got tired of it. You have no idea how I missed you. Every once and a while I expected to see you dancing around the room with some one and the music sometimes reminded me of you because we had danced together to some of it. It was a large dance and many outsiders were there. Somehow it didn't seem like a Christmas dance. I think the room was too somber looking, too much green which always look black at night.

Bert and Pauline came up to the dance and only stayed a little while. she said that she thought that she and Bert and maybe one or two of their friends would go to Texas in the spring and bring you home. She tried several times to find out whether I was going to Texas or not but I didn't give her any satisfaction. She asked me where I was going when I went south and I told her mexico. Its funny but at the dance a lot of people said to me: "Why Mr Bert I thought you were in Texas how surprised I am to see you." Isn't it queer how such reports get around. It shows how little you can tell about the
