How far he went in his amazing research is shown by his most shocking paintings, the ones painted with drippings of colors and commercial paints, with sprays and spots, in a frenzy of excitement. In spite of this they are resolved in their delicate harmonies, in the intricate web of filaments and even of atmospheres and thin lights, in that final control of matter and images, which is so astonishing.
