I guess Mother told you about the new assignment that came to Bennett. We don't know, of course, if Mr. Edison will ask him to be his aide in June or not, his present aide leaves then, but I've written to Mrs. Mulhall and told her about it. Professionally it would be grand for Bennett, but we both want to get West and, of course, he'd much rather have a command but it may work out some other way. At present, though, he is "slated" to go to sea in June.

I will spend the summer in S.B. no matter what happens, only, of course, I'd rather feel we were going there for a couple of years. I don't really cross any bridges, though, and let each day unfold.
