Schenectady Feb. 27. 1866. I have been intimately acquainted with the Rev. Doc. Cornelius Van, Santvoord, for many years. He has been connected with the military service of the U States as Chaplain in the field & in hospitals for nearly four years - He is a man of high classical & literary attainments; a learned theologian an able & eloquent writer, & a sound, earnest & instructive preacher.
