been light compared with that of the poor whites.  The reports from the different agencies show a much larger amount of relief furnished to the whites than to the blacks.

I have extended this communication to greater length than I had designed, yet have omitted many things to which I should have made allusion.  I conclude by renewing my earnest appeal for an increase of the supply of food.
