McReynolds, Sklarek

and Lagos Sheraton Hotels; and the headquarters building in Saudi Arabia for Fluor Arabia.

Sklarek is the first woman architect in the Los Angeles Chapter of the AIA to be elected to fellowship. A graduate of Columbia University (Bachelor of Architecture), she has been practicing for 30 years. During that span, she has devoted most of her energies to improving architectural methods. Her projects include many large high-rise building complexes, multi-level enclosed shopping malls, hospitals, high-rise apartment buildings and hotels.

She has developed a special expertise in solving construction problems associated with large projects located in high seismic probability areas. Such projects include: the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo, Japan; and the Puente Hills, Fox Hills and Santa Anita Fashion Mall shopping centers in Southern California.

Prior to joining the Becket organization recently, Sklarek was associated with Gruen Associates for 20 years as director of architecture, and has taught on the architectural faculty of UCLA.

Other active fellows in the Becket organization include: MacDonald Becket, president; Robert Tyler, corporate director of design; and Louis Naidorf, director of design, Los Angeles office.

Welton Becket Associates maintains full-service offices in Los Angeles, New York and Chicago.
