Before me personally appeared the undersigned Peter Bloom and being duly sworn deposes as follows

I am a discharged soldier. My name is Peter Bloom. I live in the City of Memphis Tenn. On the night of the 2nd of May 1866 while in bed a number of white men came to my house on a plea of hunting arms. They stole from me $50.00 in money, a Gold watch worth $70.00, other articles to the amount of $35.00. They then took me into another room, and I heard them trying to ravish my wife, she refusing them.
