Before me personally appeared the undersigned, and being duly sworn deposes as follows. 

We the undersigned citizens of Memphis Tenn, and members of the Collins Chapel (Colored) do depose and say, that the aforesaid Chapel was set on fire and burned down on the night of the 2nd day of May, 1866, by a mob which helped to compose the riot in the City of Memphis at that time, the said Chapel was valued at the sum of twenty five thousand ($25.000 00/100) dollars by the colored citizens who belonged or were members of the said Church.
