Before me personally appeared the undersigned Mrs. Mary Grady and being duly sworn deposes as follows:

My name is Mary Grady (white) I live in the city of Memphis Tenn. On the night of the 1st day of May 1866. a party of white men came to my house broke in the door, "they said then I harbored negroes and went behind the counter and took from the money box about $200.00 in money and took away and destroyed groceries to the amount of $90.00 and abused me very badly. They said if I did not shut my mouth they would burn the house in five minutes, when I was begging them to stop their proceedings, they wanted to go to bed with my little girl ten years of age and said come here I want to kiss you. Then took hold of and felt her all over, where the boarders (white) were called they left
