Dear Mr. Morphet:

I'm sorry I'm so late in answering your letter of February 11th, concerning a volume on Robert Morris that you would like to include in the "Penguin New Art" series. I would have written you sooner, but a problem arose as to the choice of an author of the book.

Barbara Rose, whom you suggested as a possibility in an earlier letter would have been ideal, but unfortunately, she cannot undertake the task for personal reasons. Robert Morris and I felt that, under the circumstances, the best alternative would be Annette Michelson, who has known him for many years and often written about his work.

Since, as Ileana Sonnabend told me over the phone, you have an urgent deadline to be meet, I should be very grateful if you would let me know soon whether our choice meets with your approval.

Kindest regards,

Leo Castelli
