Affiliated Artist
Roy de Forest
In 1950 he was offered a scholarship at the San Francisco Art Institute. In San Francisco he was influenced by Clifford Still, Mark Rothko, David Park and Elmer Bischoff but before he turned thirty he embarked upon his idiosyncratic path which followed in no ones footsteps. While teaching at the University of California at Davis from 1965-1982, he and his fellow professors Wayne Thiebaud, Robert Arneson, William T. Wiley and Manuel Neri elevated the art school to national prominence and influence.

With over 7p solo exhibitions and more than 100 group exhibits to his credit in the United States, Canada, Yugoslavia, Brazil and France, De Forest has demonstrated the broad appeal of his artwork. Collectors of his work include: The Centre Georges, Pompidou, Paris, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; The Whitney Museum of American art, and the Art Institute of Chicago.
