MAY 2, 1967

Dear Les Claypool,

Enclosed is a copy of a brief statement regarding the Temple of Man.

On Sunday, May 28, the Topanga Corral will present the Temple of Man Church and Fellowship "Magic Theatre Benefit" from 3 pm on.

Without writing a four page letter I can't fully describe the concept of the Magic Theatre as it is now evolving, but I will quote a few lines from an extended statement about it written recently by Idell Romero, one of the people responsible for the concept:
"...We transmit The Word, which is Drama, which is, after all, what it's all about. Why not an attempt at the highest form, the purest around, the most complete surrender?
"We may all get well if we do. ..."

The information I have at this moment about the May 28 benefit is not complete (a flyer will be out this Friday with further information) but thus far the following groups and individuals are committed: Rock groups -- the UFO's, The Flower Children, The Bluze Paper, The New World Jazz Band; Tommy Bee will act as M.C. for a portion of the program; Elias Romero & Company will present a liquid light show... and I'll be reading a poem or two.

The Topanga Corral is at 2034 Topanga Canyon Blvd. (Ventura Freeway, take south off-ramp)

If you'd like any further information you may call me at 665-0095, or write to the Rev. Bob Alexander of the Temple of Man, 5440 Amigo, Tarzana, Calif.

We will appreciate any help you can give the project: possibly you would enjoy being M.C. for a portion of the program; publicity, advice, or just your attendance.

Sincerely,
