Patriotism in a degree only secondary to Eloquence.

The cost is worthy of little consideration--10,000 dollars employed annually in the encouragement of native talent for the decoration of our public buildings, would keep our Arts alive and raise them to unparalleled excellence and glory.

In the progress of civilization and improvement it is impossible to prevent the cultivation of the Fine Arts--But it is wise to give them an early direction to their noblest purposes.

It is not amiss to remark, that all paintings intended to be preserved in public buildings, should be hung so as to let the air circulate around them--The back of the canvas should be saturated with wax, which resists moisture and preserves the canvas & the painting.
