Dear Jim:

Enclosed is the first draft of the Pippin list. It
is compiled from as many catalogues and books as I
could find, starting with the most recent. There
will be many changes of ownership undoubtedly but
it's a start. Where there is no address listed, I
will try to find one and send you the additional
information. The Carnegie may be a [[help?]] in locat-
ing some of the paintings. I have spoken with Leon
Arkus there and he is very enthusiastic about the
show.

We have a verbal commitment from Barbara Haskell at
the Whitney Museum to lend their Pippin paintings
but she needs a letter of request. Also, Ann d'
Harnoncourt from the Philadelphia Museum will be
very helpful.

Terry has asked Romare Bearden to do the monograph
for the catalogue and has had meetings with him in
that regard. He was a personal friend of Pippin and
has done research on his work.

I wanted to get this list off to you today so you
could start adding information to it from your own
sources. Tomorrow I will get together a draft of
a letter and loan form and anything else that comes
to mind that you might need. Please let me know if
I'm leaving anything out.

Thanks for your encouragement and cooperation.

                             Sincerely,
                             [[Signature: Chris]]
