A large mass meeting held by the citizens of this County  Dear Sir, with sorrow I have to write you the condition of the colored citizens of the said county, do pray that Genl. Howard will take some steps with the condition of the colored citizens of this said County we are not heard in this County Court in no point of law whatever, there are one case that was committed on Mr. Nolan Brinkley's wife while going to church on the sabbath day she was horse whipped on the said day by the man named of Willoughby Dashear this case was tried first at Princess C.H. by the parties over the said Court who fought against the U.S. until they were whipped then said to be Union men but take occasion to say the colored citizens when carried to court says you see how the damned Yankee strikes you negroes they just pretend that they love you until they get all the money from you then "you uns" ones they - case was also tried at Wises farm by the Lieut and then it was stopped right there without any satisfaction whatever. we appeal
