stand your ground &c, the crowd having increased in number considerably marched back to where the riot first began, then the second conflict commenced and considerable number of pistols were fired, the White men again retreated, to their place of safety, within the circle of tents opposite the preachers stand and surrounded by inocent women and children, now, while urging all their retreating brave men to come together again to make their last assault upon the enemy, I was informed, that some one or more of the ministers had advised the col'd people to leave the ground, they did leave, and as soon as the assaulting party found they had gone, they immediately repaired to the ground of conflict, collected together all the trunks, broke them open, with their contents, beds & bedding, burnt all up, and broke up all their crockery.
