Wm. Green, (Colored) says I am aged 38 - was born in Maryland - free born, Went to Camp Meeting on Thursday morning - last Thursday week. I was there in the evening, after the white preaching was over, same day, the Colored people had their meeting - commenced about eight o'clock in the evening. I was the only colored minister there; I was conducting the exercises - commenced singing and praying, - the white people gathered around, - had sung and prayed once, then sung and prayed again - and during the 2" prayer a club was thrown in among the colored people; the colored people took no notice of the club; nothing was then done until about 9 o' clock in the evening, - then having singing and prayer with about 7 or 8 mourners at the mourners bench, - about this time a white man came to the Alter when the colored people were praying, and set a womans dress on fire with a segar, and struck another woman and knocked her over, - the colored people then got up and started to run, - some one cried out and said "don't run - stand your ground and let us fight them, and keep them off of us," - and then the whites run; the colored meeting was then broken up. I then called the people together and said "Let us continue on our meeting" - then I exhorted them, sung and prayed - this was about 12 o' clock at night; then a white man came up and struck a colored man with a stone and knocked him down; the colored people started to run again, when the white people commenced firing upon them. - Some one cried out for the colored people to stand their
