been discharged, by both Colored and Whites I retreated to the circle of the White Encampment. Then I heard the cry from the Colored people Rally boys Rally!, A rush was then made toward the Preacher's Stand, by about 18 or 20 Colored men who advanced up to the rear of the Preacher's Stand where the Whites were engaged in worship. I mounted the Stand, and ordered the Colored people back, which order they obeyed.
 
While they were retreating back to their place, a number of white men unknown to me, were firing at them. When I endeavored to stop those white men from firing on the Colored people
