Presents the earnest prayer of about 130 families of freedmen for a temporary supply of agricultural & other implements, which are very much needed by them to clear and cultivate farms under the promises of the recent Homestead law, on the unappropriated U.S. lands in Arkansas. The freedmen are well qualified to use the axe, hoe and plow but are deficient in that necessary business quality - steadiness of purpose as a consequence of which they are yet

very destitute although they have been free some time. Does not wish them to be assisted too much but only enough to give them a start Thinks they ought also to be supplied with a moderate amount of subsistence during the first two years &c.
