States that in years 1865 & 66 the colored people about Vicksburg placed in his hands $10,000 to buy lands for them, and as the State laws of Miss prevented freedmen from owning real estate the property was deeded in his name. That Lt. Gov. Clark & Rev C.K. Marshall are urging the Grand Jury against him. Asks that the freedpeople and himself be protected by the Bureau
