Then would they realize what it is to have a spring whos waters fail not, God's promises stand out-as brilliantly, to me, today, as the sun in the heavens.
I have been thinking much of late about prayer. It is the medicine by which we get near to God. The early fathers of the church were men who prayed much.
Luther said if I fail to spend two hours in prayer each morning, the devil gets the victory during the day.
Knox said: Give me Scotland, or I die, Tis said Mary Queen of Scotts, feared his prayers more than any army; Edwards, and his faithful band, prayed all night, before he preached that wonderful sermon. Sinners in the hands of an angry God (His. Text) Deut 32.35; Tis stated that the heavens groaned and shrieked convulsively.
And their cries of distress once drowned the preacher's voice. Some of the audience actually seized fast-hold [[strikethrough]] of [[/strikethrough]] upon the Pillars, and braces of the church, as if they were sliding into the gulf of [[ruin]]. And a fellow clergyman sitting at the time in the pulpit, cried out, Mr. Edwards, Mr. Edwards, Is not God merciful two?. There is wonderful power in prayer, let us pray much.
Remember me to Miss Thomas and Miss Erminie. Dont think I have attempted to write a sermon. Hoping all are well, (Hope to hear from you again soon.)
