You see Marcel had a detachment. Speaking of that word - a natural, real detachment in his nature, which may be what made some people think he was cold. And yet he was very out going and loving to people.

G: Did you feel in your relationship with him, that he was detached in some way?

B: Well in a way...I never thought of the word. But we were both detached. I think we really had something in common. I've read, if you have silence with person, it means a great understanding. And we had great silence between us. We didn't have to excuse or explain. And we lightly, once, mentioned the word "marriage". And it had no importance to either of us.
