Dear Beatrice,

You seem to be busy and happy. That is good and I am glad for you. I am happy but not busy as I would like to be. Problems sometimes depress me but that is, of course, aside from my happiness which goes on regardless. Naomi and I continue congenial and as much in love as ever- perhaps more so far we seem more certain. I am eerlain that we will be able to accomplish much together.

I believe I understand something of Maxine's viewpoint. Of course, we always expect so much from our friends that we are individually hurt when they disappoint us. Unfortunately she was not frank and honest with me. When I received a letter from a local lawyer regarding my supporting the children financially. I was naturally hurt to think that she would use such.
