Dear Isabel

Sometime during the winter of 34-35, Stanley Lathrop came to New York, called me & I went to his hotel to talk about what I would do when I joined Robinson in Colorado. Alan Dunn was there. Then, we met twice at your house - the rest was by mail, but I felt close to him and you and Charlie & Reg, Alan managed to tell me that in his opinion I hadn't wasted my life. What more can anyone do for you!

What I know of Mozart's death is almost as lonely as what you told Lydia of Alan's lack of some sort of monitor - even a concierge - who might have been aware of something unusual in the apartment.

Very shortly before you called, Kathy Rosen got us & asked to to come to dinner with you & a Mr Russell (I think I have the name right) on June 25th. I hope we'll get together here, before then, but I'm

Transcription Notes:
Note: date written at start of letter is unclear, but I think it is 1974 (not 1934) because 1) winter of 34-35 is mentioned in letter, 3) zip code is included in address, which was not in use until 1963, and 3) I believe the Alan Dunn referred to in letter was a cartoonist at the New Yorker who died in 1974 - the discussion seems to be memories of him, as if he had recently died.
