and extra hat or cap (if possible)--these items should go into a suitcase, or better still a $12.00 canvas Val-Pack (cadet) or similar folding handbag. Leave room in here for cigarettes, extra razor blades, soap, candy bars, etc. to be put in enroute or on shipboard.

m. New style "tin" helmet is uniform on duty aboard ship. Officers wear pistols and canteens at all times outside of staterooms. Officers must expect to work hard aboard ship straightening out mess lines, ironing out traffic bottlenecks, and inspecting quarters for sanitation and ventilation, not to mention action as assistant mess officers. 

n. Dogtags for everyone must be brought up-to-date as to latest address of person to be notified and tetanus refresher shot. 

o. In your wallet, or money belt, you must carry your 

(1) W.D. Identification card or passport, etc. 
(2) Finance Pay Dats Card. 
(3) Immunization Record. These money belts should be impregnated canvas with a rubber-silk inner "tobacco-pouch" liner. It is a good idea to carry paper money, vitamin pills, and silver money in the three compartments. 

p. Matches are extremely scarce in many theaters; you are advised to buy a first class lighter, with extra flints and supply of fluid.
