Dear Ned

My great [[strikethrough]] disappointment in [[/strikethrough]] despair over the recent Worlds Fair Awards - [[strikethrough]] made last week prompts me to write this letter. [[/strikethrough]] - Together with [[strikethrough]] that one award [[/strikethrough]] [[strikethrough]] [[gre?]] award [[/strikethrough]] the award selected for the San Antonio - post office in 193[[strikethrough]]6[[/strikethrough]]7 - prompts me to write [[strikethrough]] this note [[/strikethrough]] -

Most juries pick out this same old hackneyed, meaningless, academic, modernistic, witless, formless, counterfeit stuff still? Cannot vital art & sculpture be more encouraged? To be sure the Section has [[strikethrough]] handed many [[/strikethrough]] directed a number of jobs to [[strikethrough]] artist [[/strikethrough]] painters who say something [[strikethrough]] in their work [[/strikethrough]] but the [[strikethrough[[ large [[/strikethrough]] great proportion including some of the major commissions will make no history.

On the other hand, awards are perfect for the Worlds Fair compared to which, Coney Island is Rome -

The Rotunda floor will be complete in a month -

Yours Sincerely
Reg Marsh
