Dear Mr. Gellatly

The time is at hand for your gallery in your new house to be completed: I hope both will be entirely to your liking.

As to your picture the fact must be realized that it must be all felt
out again

Can you wait? or do you wish to wait? 

If you have the patience, and the desire to do so: I shall of course do all in
my power to make it as good as before.
 
contrary: if you are tired of it all I will cheerfully return your retaining fee.

Allow me to say that I cannot in any sense accept a defensive position in the matter.

The commission when taken was a compliment to you.

The disastrous effort to finish it in a certain time was your suggestion; and I assure you the loss of all the previous work on it is by no means a light one.

However I take it all lightly; as the fates decreed it so.
