Friday, August 7, 1953--NEW YORK, N.Y.-- You came down from Boston and you unpacked and said "This seems now to be my one permanent home" and then we had drinks on the small terrace and you told me about the M.I.T. chapel program and the new words you had learned for all the religions. And then we had dinner and after the dessert we sat by candle-light and went over the first draft of the agreement. And you were worried and upset, but somehow talking it over together made it seem not too hopeless, for there were possiblities [[possibilities]] of revisions still and we talked of them. And then we looked briefly at the sky and then read the bit about spiders.[[strikethrough]]And[[/strikethrough]] Then you tried to make me understand about taxes. And then we went to bed and the wonder of sex, which had grown and been so marvellous [[marvelous]] in alifornia [[California]], was with us.

Saturday, August 8, 1953--NEW YORK, N.Y.-- There was a nice breakfast and then you went off to meet Bruce and it seemed very nice and as it should be. I typed the agreement for Bill and did some work. And then at four o'clock I opened the door and your arms were open for me. You told me a little about the meeting and we talked about my TV things and you told me about reinforced concrete and I could sense your excitement about it and wondered when you would decide to try some of these possibilities in a building. And then we meant just to say "Good-bye" but suddenly we were making lovely love again. And then it was a dash to get to the airport, but the ride out was wonderful, because it seemed to reassure us both that somehow everything would get straightened out about the agreement.
