Dear Janice,

As I mentioned to you last summer, I am organizing an exhibition, "The Magic of California Assemblage" (working title) for presentation at the University Art Gallery, CSU Dominguez will be co-curated by myself and Dr. Arthur Harshman, Chairperson of the Art Department and Professor of Art History at Dominguez Hills.

As the seeds of California assemblage have been explored in previous exhibitions (Edward Kienholz, Roland Reiss, George Herms, Bruce Connors), I would like to concentrate on the strong continuum of the California assemblage tradition by including your work in the exhibition.

I am inviting six to seven artists to participate, the Art Gallery has over 2000 square feet of exhibition space with 17' ceilings. I have enclosed a floor plan for your information. I want to publish an illustrated catalogue on the order of the enclosed "As I See Myself" exhibition catalog, I would include reproductions of yout work, plus an introductory essay, your biography and your statement (if you wish to make one). The Art Gallery would assume responsibility for the transportation of your artworks as well as providing wall-to-wall insurance through the State of California. I am going to apply for a NEA grant to fund a more extensive and elaborate catalogue and educational events, so if you are interested in participating, I will need from 8 to 10 slides of your recent work and a current biography/resume.

Please give me a call or drop me a line if you are interested.

Thank you for your consideration, and I look forward to working with you on this exciting and important exhibition.

Sincerely,

Kathy Zm
