registering - the freedmen being told that they would be enslaved again and that they would have to enter the army and other matters lending to discourage them. The Sub Asst. Comr believes these attempts mere futile and that all have registered who were entitled so to do. 

Condition of Affairs. 
The general condition of affairs is rather unsettled and there is a feeling of insecurity; and owners of property are endeavoring to dispose of it with a view to removing to some other locality

Crops. The prospects for an abundant crop are flattering.
