Contract 
vary in condition; with exceptional cases the freedmen are working well and appear to be contented. They not only appreciate the force of their obligations but seem desirous of fulfilling their contracts to the letter.

Sick, Old and Infirm 
A few cases of this class have been recommended for admission to the Bureau Hospital at Vicksburg.

Schools 
Six schools were in operation at the beginning of June. Four of them closed at the end of that month and the teachers have gone north for the summer. The two schools remaining are located in Vicksburg and and the attendance notwithstanding the summer heat is fair.

Marriage Relations 
The laws relative to marriage are generally observed by the freedmen.
