1st Lieut Jno D Moore V.R.C.
Asst. Sub. Comsnr &c

Sir
Your communication bearing date the 8th inst came to hand in due season, in reply I have to say-

1st. That I never was in the Rebel Army either as an officer or a private and was at no time nor in any way employed by the Rebel Government.

2nd. I never favored, encouraged or done any thing in any way to aid, assist or abet secession or to promote or advance the cause of the Rebellion.

3rd.
