Express" of 10" inst. which accuses Gen'l Sickles of appointing agents to receive and sell all cotton which has been raised on shairs [[shares]] in S.C. States that no such orders have been issued or enforced. That agent appointed under his G.O. #26 to assist in division of crops, (when desired to do so by freedmen have their action raised the price of cotton from 7 & 9 to 15 to 20 cents per pound. Suggests that a refutation of the newspaper articles referred to be published in the Northern papers, &c. |
