General; - I have the honor as directed in special orders no 160, to report that the Washburn School located here, now in the third week of its present term, numbers two hundred and twenty five pupils in the day School, and thirty five in the night school.  During the past year closing with July  had an average attendance of five hundred and seventy five.  As yet this school has not its full corps of teachers, and two entire departments are closed awaiting their arrival.  The grading in this school appears to be judicious and thirrugh, the school is arranged & conducted in five departments under Mr Jno Scott as principle, and at this time he is assisted Misses Mary Williams and Sarah Beal.

The Text Books used here are the "National Series"  The Schools are free,- the attendance is good; and the teachers make no special complaint as to tardiness.  The children
