Washington D.C.

General.
I have the honor to make application for an appointment as agent in your department and trust that while so much need exist in this state for the protection of the colored people, my respectful request will meet with your favorable consideration

Since the close of the war I have been financially engaged in school teaching and latterly I was appointed an officer of the Constitutional Convention.

I think my usefulness in the cause of Republican Principals would be somewhat augmented by being appointed agent in this
state.

Please find Enclosed recommendations of the President and a few of the prominent members of the Convention

I am General
Very Respectfully
Your obt Servant
