HEADQUARTERS, 4th MILITARY DISTRICT,
Holly Springs, Miss., January 6, 1868.

I. Before a Military Commission, which convened at Vicksburg, Mississippi, November 20th, 1867, pursuant to Special Orders No. 184. dated Headquarters 4th Military District, Holly Springs, Mississippi, November 6th, 1867, and of which Brevet Major General G. PENNYPACKER, Colonel 34th U. S. Infantry, is President, was arraigned and tried. 
1. Charles W. Vick, civilian.
CHARGE -- Murder.
Specification -- In this that he, the said Charles W. Vick, did willfully feloniously, and with malice aforethought kill and murder one Michael R. Duggin, by shooting him the said Duggin. This at or near the city of Vicksburg, in the county of Warren and State of Mississippi, on or about the 28th day of October, 1867.
PLEA.
To the specification, "Not Guilty."
To the charge, "Not Guilty."
FINDINGS.
Of the Specification, "Guilty," except for the words "and with malice aforethought" and the words "and murder," and inserting the word "and" between the words "willfully feloniously."
Of the Charge, "Not Guilty," but "Guilty of Manslaughter."
SENTENCE.
And the Commission does therefore sentence him, the said Charles W. Vick, citizen, to be imprisoned at hard labor for the period of five (5) years, at such place as the Commanding General may direct.
