Bvt. Brig Genl. H. Brooks
Asst Commr Md.
General
The mother and wife of Basil Frazier (Col.d) now confirmed in the Penitentiary at Baltimore, have applied for his pardon and release. Their statement is that he ran away from Port Tobacco before the war and on his return for his family was arrested on a charge of horse stealing and sentenced to 5 years imprisonment. The commissioner desires you to investigate the case and if he can be released without prejudice to justice it will be a great mercy to his family whom he ought to support Very respectfully
