a self supporting "Model farm".-

There are at present about fifty children in the Asylum varying in age from two to twelve years.- Children are received only upon conclusive evidence that there is no other manner in which they can be properly cared for and as opportunities for good homes occur they are appenticed during their minority.- The exact number provided with permanent houses since the Bureau took the Asylum in charge is not at hand but is believed to be between three and four hundred.

The expenditures of the Bureau have been confined to the lowest limit consistent with efficiency, while a false economy has been ought to be avoided, and if is believed that the amount expended has been no greater than in the administration of the same extent of territory or the same number of constituents in other localities.
