Office Sub Asst Commissioner
Natchez Miss June 9th 1868

Respectfully returned with the information that the Routhland property was owned under a valid Title by the late Frank Ogden who gave to John Ogden his brother a Mortgage on said property in a family arrangement

John Ogden borrowed a large amount of money from Colonel Ten of New Orleans and Messrs Britton and Koontz of Natchez giving them this Mortgage note as collateral security

Default has been made in the payment of said Monies,, and as I am informed the property will be turned over to the above mentioned creditors

As there is so much controversy about the property and the ownership of the same, it is my opinion, that the Bureau by taking possession of it would be involved very likely in a Law Suit and incur a great deal of expences

Mrs. F.Q. Ogden is at present in possession of said property
