I've tried, I've tried to do...oh, one time I tried to do a cartoon for a small paper in New York. And there's a lot of hate, but I can't paint it. I used to try to do cartooning earlier in my life, and I couldn't do it right.

...But I can't use my medium to do these kind of things. I have to paint the things I love. And while I pull out a great deal, a certain amount of tragedy, and I think that I have a certain amount of tragic painting, I certainly think that I am trying to make man aware of all of these qualities.

...Well, I tell you, after so many years in New York...I spent seventeen years in New York...and my wife was born in New York...yes my first wife and I were divorced in Mexico. Fran and I were married fifteen years ago.
