THE BROOK.

Laughing,leaping,
Never sleeping-
Laughing-leaping thro' the day,
Singing over
Lead and clover,
Over clover on its way-

Hear it teaching,
Softly preaching-
Preaching-teaching to the rose
Songs of [[strikethrough]]duty[[/strikethrough]] beauty
And of [[strikethrough]]beauty[[/strikethrough]] duty
Duty, beauty, as it flows.

Ever fleeting,
To the meeting-
Fleeting-fleeting, on it speeds
To the river
[[strikethorugh]]And the quiver[[/strikethrough]], All a-quiver
[[strikethrough]]Far off quiver of the reeds[[/strikethrough]]. With its glistening, [[?]] reeds 9
And the stilly
Water lily,
Fragrant lily of the streams,
Bends to hear it
And to cheer it,
Hear and cheer it as it dreams.

Ever reaming
Toward the gloaming-
Foaming, foaming, in its flight-
[[strikethrough]]It[[/strikethrough]]Till [[strikethrough]]will[[/strikethrough]]it pillow
'Neath the willow
On the bosom of the night.
