away from his work & family. I have a brilliant idea - I shall learn to carve by December - well enough to be able to take some wood abroad with me, & will carve all the way over on the boat, & in the train, & in the evening at Stanton. In this way I will learn a lot & not waste  my time. If I don't make the team, I will come straight home, since in that case I wouldn't get into the Olympics anyway. [[strikethrough]] Last up [[/strikethrough]] I am so happy & proud of this idea that I have much more joy about going & less conscience & worry. This team business would be a wonderful experience, & I would regret it if I did not take it now while it is possible. I saw Estie Stowell watering his dog in the [[strikethrough]] garden [[//strikethrough]] street perchance & would like to see him again as he has always interested me. Dickie

Delano dined here last night at my surprising initiation, & was his charming blunt self. He fascinates me in a queer way - his is an awful mental gold digger living in a world of his own [[strikethrough]] bus [[/strikethrough]] like a genius - but his genius excuses this. He is a going to do a modern steamer plan for his diploma project in the Beaux Arts - a nifty idea. He has some beautiful photos in the "Hobby Show," but his Greece water colors are rather dry & architectural & interesting when primed on a wall. This hobby show is a wonderful sight - so cram full of amusing fancies, & really a fine proof of much interest & well spent time. Lee put in a nice dress & pillow cases, and Nurn [[?]] socks & a foot stool - the darling lady should
